My sisters wanted Giovanni's. Since I can't eat shrimp, I opted for Honos. There was no line and pretty dead but that didn't stop me from checking them out. Ordering was easy. I got the kalbi plate which came with rice and salad. My sister got the garlic shrimp. Food came out within few minutes. Kalbi was flavorful and pretty tender. I did try a piece of shrimp but it was a bit overcooked and the flavor was just alright. There are benches for their customers only. The lady there was very strict about that. Only paying customers are allowed to sit on their benches. While I was eating there, she did kick some people out of their benches as they were not their customers lol. Parking is $2. Parking lot is shared with all the food trucks in that plaza. **Cash Only**

Aloha! Finally made it to Oahu and of course over to the North Shore to try Hono's Shrimp Truck. Arrived just before they opened, so no crowds to deal with. The nice lady running the place asked if we were ready to order because she was ready to serve a few minutes before officially opening. That day she was working alone so she had a sign up "I'm working alone please be patient" We ordered the kalbi and spicy shrimp plate. The kalbi was flavorful and tender. They really don't skimp on the amount they give you. The giant shrimp were doused in sauce and were cooked perfectly. Nice heat from the spicy shrimp but not overpowering. Accompanied by rice and a cabbage salad. The plate was just as good as all the hype it gets. We also ordered from their famous neighbor as well. Because why not. Hono's holds its own with big flavor, awesome service, a shorter line and overall quality of their food. Definitely a must try when you're at the North Shore.

Better than Giovanni's Right next to Giovanni's, a group went and purchased from Honos and Gios, and the blinded taste test had honos winning over Giovanni. The shrimp head to head is bigger and more flavorful. Plus they serve kalbi! Generous portions that gave us the surf and turf. Would definitely come back

Since we couldn't go to the beach due to the choppy waves, we decided to get lunch instead. My husband got Giovanni's while I ordered Honos. Personally, I like Honos better. Not only do they give a cabbage salad along with two scoops of rice, but their shrimp is bigger and they are a dollar less than their competition next door. I waited about 5-7 minutes for my food while my husband waited about 10 minutes. I recommend bringing bug repellent because the mosquitos are no joke. Keep in mind that they are an outdoor eating area. Also bring hand wipes because there is no hand washing area. Oh, and parking is $2 or free for locals (cash)

We love coming to Hono's. They are located in the same parking lot as Giovanni's Shrimp truck in Haleiwa across from McDonalds. They now charge $2 for parking as before it was free. We used to love going to Giovanni's but over time it went down hill so we decided to try Hono's and let me tell u, they NEVER DISAPPOINT. the shrimp is so tasty and large size. Their lettuce with their special clear dressing is so good. They have spicy shrimp and kalbi as well. Their kalbi is delicious. They have assigned tables for each food truck that is located in there. The down fall is that there used to be a sink to wash your hands when you're done eating, but now they dont allow customers to use it :(( Luckily we has hand wipes and sanitizer. If u are in the area, definitely try this place out, I promise you'll like it:))

A shrimp truck right next to Giovani . We chose Honos since there was no line , no drenched in butter and bigger sized shrimp . Shrimps are as juicy as Giovani's but with less buttery . Food came out in 5-10 minutes . Staff were really nice . Be careful of the wild chickens /roosters . They would jump up the table asking for portions . Ambiance family friendly. On site parking is a practically impossible . Best bet is to park on the street . Be careful when parking at other stores . Just buy something from there if anything We ordered the garlic shrimp scampi and pine apple sweet and sour shrimp . Shrimp portion was generous with a side of rice and salad vinaigrette

First off, be prepared with cash only! And may the parking gods be ever in your favor. If you can't find parking in their lot right up front of their truck, I usually park at the post office less than 5 min away for free. This truck is located in Haleiwa town, next to a crepe VW bus. There are picnic tables up front of their food truck that are designated specifically for them (orange umbrellas). There are birds and chickens around, scrounging for food, a very country experience. There are a few sinks nearby in case your hands get too dirty and you need a quick rinse off. Been coming here for awhile since they have shrimp AND kalbi plates, sooo good! You could get butter spicy (gochujang-like sauce) or butter shrimp. I personally like to get the butter shrimp with the spicy sauce on the side, so that I can adjust my spice level as needed. The kalbi is always soft and easy to eat. I love that their plates come with a vinegary shredded cabbage on the side, as it really balances out all the buttery, fatty goodness from the proteins. It's always worth the drive for this place! Very consistent in service and quality product over the years. I hope that they stay open forever!

The wait was short and the food was good. The garlic shrimp and galbi had solid flavoring and the shrimp was pretty big. Honos has a lot of outdoor seating so you can enjoy the weather and the worker was nice. Note: there's a fee of ~$2 to get into the food truck area

I tried both Giovanni's and Honos (ordered the garlic shrimp from both), and in my opinion, Honos is much, much better. Here are my reasons: 1. The shrimp are much bigger, plumper, juicier, and tender. 2. The shrimp are not drenched in butter to the point where I feel like my arteries are clogging. Hence, the flavors actually come through better. 3. It comes with some cabbage on the side. Giovanni's only has shrimp and rice - no veggies. 4. The price is cheaper (by $1.50). 5. There was no line or wait to order food. 6. There was plenty of seating. Don't buy the Giovanni's hype. Honos is better.
